Over 920 Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Volunteers assembled in Bucharest from 6th to 10th of April for the Erasmus Generation Meeting 2023. Among them were 35 Austrian delegates from different local Austrian ESN Sections. The participants from all over Europe had their stay packed with workshops, discussions, networking opportunities and cultural exchange.
Outstanding sessions provided by the content team
Our delegation had the chance to participate in many different workshops that covered a wide range of topics relevant to ESN volunteers such as project management, national and international cooperation and communication strategies. Each workshop was led by other volunteers that exceled at their respective fields, providing valuable insights and practical skills that our volunteers can apply in the future. Many topics also revolved around the value of skills gained in volunteering for one's professional life as well as the societal harm created by unpaid internships.
In various discussions with members of ESN and representatives of the European Parliament and other political and educational institutions shared their insights into the politics and processes behind student exchange and the challenges in the current political climate.
Furthermore, the Erasmus Generation Meeting provided an excellent opportunity to network with participants from all over Europe. Everyone had the chance to connect with like-minded individuals who share their passions for volunteering, international exchange and cultural diversity. These connections will undoubtedly be invaluable as the participants continue their work within ESN and beyond.
Austrian delegation as representatives of our culture
In addition to the workshops and networking opportunities, the cultural exchange was a significant highlight of the event. The participants had the opportunity to experience Romanian culture and traditions through various activities, including a city tour, traditional dances, and local cuisine. It was an excellent way to immerse oneself in the local culture and connect with the host country. The delegation also did their part in representing Austria, by showcasing traditional clothing and providing Austrian food at the international dinner.

The event provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, share experiences, and future collaboration which made the EGM Bucharest 2023 an unforgettable experience for the Austrian delegation and all the other participants. We are grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this event and look forward to continuing our work within ESN with our newly gained skills and knowledge.
